After nearly 60 years in the menswear business, there's not much I don't know. Which is why I'm a little embarrassed to tell you I learned something new the other day - and I learned it from, of all people, my customers. You see there's been a recent rash of end-of-summer weddings, and several smart guys have come in to 569 DANFORTH AVENUE, just west of Pape, specifically to shop our Roberto 2 For 1 line for their groomsmen ensembles. What a great idea! Instead of renting several ill-fitting suits from a local tux place, they buy well-made ones for nearly the same price, splitting the already low 2 For 1 cost between a couple of ushers. And that same concept of course applies to our Roberto 3 For 1 dress shirts and ties. You could outfit the entire male half of a wedding party in spiffily tailored style, maybe even make some of the furnishings their groomsmen's presents, do it all in an hour or so, and everybody winds up with several new items that fit seamlessly into their businesswear wardrobes. Sort of a win, win, win, win situation. Thanks, fellows, for the lesson. I won't forget it . . .
I didn't forget my wedding anniversary last Tuesday, either, although after 52 years you'd think I might be excused for letting it slip my mind occasionally. Myrna, I owe you a lot, not the least of which for the way a young, rather reckless Saul Korman was turned around by marrying you, and started buckling down to the family business. Looking back, I think we have been very successful, and I'm not just talking about KORRY'S . . .
Speaking of the store, however, our fall goods are all here and raring to get off the racks. Upstairs in our designer suit collection, you might notice that among the greys, navies and blacks we also have a goodly assortment of brown-shaded suits. It used to be said that “brown doesn't go to town” because the colour was considered more appropriate to casual sport jackets than business suits. Well that's no longer the case, as this season is setting out to prove - and as our staff will be very happy to show you.
