I’m back from my tradeshow shuttle to Vegas, managed to slip one more clothes convention into my schedule – last week’s Toronto-based Profile show – and at present I’m busy overseeing KORRY’S rapid shift into spring. Both floors are now filled with seasonal menswear that I think you’re going to love. I know I do. In fact, I’ve gone through the racks here at 569 DANFORTH AVENUE, just west of Pape, and picked out some of my favourite pieces; maybe they’ll be yours too. Take the lightened-up look of our dress shirts, for instance – a better harbinger of spring than any robin. No red breasts in sight, but rather chests that show soft off-whites and pastels, particularly the season’s top hues of rose pink, mint green and sky blue. If I had to choose just one, I’d go for the light lavender offering from Hugo Boss but, fortunately, I’m not that constrained. I might select another from our striped assortment, which ranges from bold broads to subtle tone-on-tones. There’s this one shirt from Canali which I’m quite partial to: It features mini white and baby blue stripes running within a thin navy border, giving an effect that’s at once powerful and relaxed. For sheer strength, however, it’s hard to beat Eton’s bold blue-and-white dog-tooth check. Paired with a bright tie and one of this season’s medium-grey suits, well, it would certainly be an office knock-out. . .
While we’re on the subject of shirts, I had the pleasure last Tuesday of being interviewed by a contingent of George Brown fashion merchandising students. Their assignment was to survey the retail success of Pure shirts. I was happy to inform them that these casual tops are selling quite well at KORRY’S, and we expect big things from the line this season. Indeed, there’s this one zip-front polo from Pure that I’ve had my eye on. . .
Gosh, were any of us ever so young and fresh-faced as these kids? With yet another birthday coming up this week, I can’t help but wonder. Belated birthday best wishes, by the way, to my son Michael and daughter-in-law Sharone, both of whom celebrated theirs last week.
