Like the vast majority of Canadians, I was rooting for Barack Obama to win the recent US election. As president-elect, he offers hope to millions of people for a better world; he also brings hope to thousands of menswear retailers like myself, who are longing for a better-dressed world. Because Obama not only speaks beautifully, he attires himself in the same manner. Crisp shirts with perfect V-shaped collars, attractive silk ties done up with a “dimple,” that telltale mark of a well-dressed man, and perfectly fitted worsted suits, at least one of which we now know is a Canali. Barack Obama is that rare politician who actually selects his own apparel rather than relying on a wardrobe stylist. If his political choices turn out to be as astute as his clothing ones, then we have nothing to worry about....
He’s no pol, but Breakfast Television’s Kevin Frankish is certainly a well-known personality. Kevin dropped by KORRY’S this week to purchase a new Roberto tuxedo (and, incidentally, receive a lesson from our lovely salesperson, Christina Jordao, on how to tie his own bow tie). When I took him out for lunch on the Danforth afterwards, we were stopped about a dozen times by admiring fans. Me, they never know – until I open my mouth and people recognize the voice from all my radio spots. Hmm. Maybe I should add a TV show to my media repertoire....
This Thursday, November 20th, we are presenting our annual Ladies’ Day event.
